can people actually abseil buildings on your own gear the same you use at the cliffs. i know that building managers might not like the idea. ive seen it done on youtube and in the UK library (youtube). they done it off bridges etc. mostly done overseas.
can it be done here WITHOUT being arrested and fined like some of the yob nobs that did it off the ANZ building in brissy and the sydney harbour bridge.
a fine would break my business and my reputation.
im not taking the risks. its not even in any written law "conducting highrisk unregulated activity"
cheers
EDIT;- i did find a law re-this so i was mistaken. so it is an offence in QLD to conduct unregulated high risk activity. maybe ill move interstate

window cleaners do it all the time. im over it myself. bad enough that doin it in many national parks is illegle.
why dont ya ask the manager? better yet get a dream team togerhter to act as scouts if you are going sneaky stile. you can practise with the crew coming up from vic to help you avoid the authorities on stradbroke.

Sounds like a valid legal argument to me...
If any fuddy-duddy building managers complain, tell them that you're a professional and you know what you're doing (you've got the certificate to prove it).

yeah don't know... from a legal stand point the building manager has a duty of care for you which is why they discourage it.
from a another perspective the city has a duty of care toward you as well e.g. you could potentially sue for them not having signs up prohibiting the activity.
I say go for it!! Pictures?

Just before you go off doing anything half-c**ked are you sure you spelled everything right when you used the following search terms in Google:
any written law conducting highrisk unregulated activity

There is also a document on high risk works that are pertanent to the new national whs laws which come into effect 1/1/12. Google your workcover
Also check out irata and araa. And don't buy a grigri for rope access as its way out of spec

if its inspected, tagged and compliant to AS1891 and 4488 then go for it. i doubt much of your recreational stuff will unfortunately!!
australian standards will stamp harnesses you fall out of if unconscious, but a proven system isn't allowed. high five for bullshit bureaucracy!!
but if your a qualified guide its a completely different kettle of fish. your recreational stuff will, all of a sudden, be magically be ok for abseiling people off the building....

well ill be saving my money for that PETZL STOP. the building has ledges so the rope isnt being loaded all the time. so it would be easier for me to walk along the ledges when i do the window cleaning. saves many drops. ive seen this been done on the gold coast all the time.

Do you actually have the consent of the building owner/manager?
If not you are trespassing, and this is what you will be done for.

Sliamese, I am a qaulified guide, and what I do at work is so, so different from what I do recreationally. (not that I rap off buildings) ...and I take offense to your comment! Do you go abseiling off buildings? What qauls are you refering too?
.....youll need a squidgee. Save some more moula and steal a little bugger from the B.P. After all they poison all them crawdaddys an all.

Difficult to work out if this question is real or a troll.
What you will find is that there are laws and regulations covering this type of work which cover the types of work methodologies that are applicable and acceptable. If it is as a business venture you will also need Public Liability insurance. From the questions being posed it is highly likely you will pose a grave risk to yourself and the general public. An industrial environment is very different from recreational and there are hidden risks that you are unlikely to anticipate.
Get proper training and equipment. Work for someone else for a while who has appropriate experience.
