I really do envy your climbing community ethos with the lost and found. I know it is probably a lost cause, but maybe you could try and educate more to do same. 3 months ago I had a fall at Morialta and am still trying to retrieve my gear. Thankfully one of the genuine climbers [ thank you Joel ] picked up my sling and biners and passed them on to a third person and this is where the trouble started. Trying to recover after a fractured lumbar, months later I find the third person has divied up the gear and now has trouble knowing where it is or accounting for it. This so called climber was someone I had previously climbed with and helped out on numerous occasions. I spose there will be vultures everywhere, but really does suck coming from the climbing community. Anyway, I've had my bitch, just pissed off.

Sucking climbing community? No thanks, and you shouldn't lable all of us like that.
It is just an individual so name and shame bro, as this will educate your 3rd person.

Don't know where you got that impression Duang, I didn't think this would be misconstrued as I have been around the crags 30 odd years now and last time I looked I was far from being ignorant. Sorry if you took it the wrong way mate, maybe some of us oldies have lost the use of grammar. I apologise if you or any of the other community took offense.

Oh thanks for asking, but I am still layed up thank you with no chance of climbing for months.

What a twat. I've never understood the excuse that you 'dont know where it came from'. I have way too much gear but I will always know about it. The last booty haul I made (which was divied) was a few petzl spirit biners, a few bolt plates and an rei? screwgate from Elijah. I probably couldnt identify the bolt-plates but would have no problem identifying whats not truly mine and returning it if need be.
