DMM Product Recall Notice - 2015-09-14 15-Sep-2015 At 8:38:44 AM EE
Message
Hi All,
We received word overnight that DMM have now issued a product recall on a number of locking carabiner products, subject to user inspection. We are obviously treating this matter very seriously and we want to make sure that all of our customers are firstly safe, as well as looked after expediently and efficiently.

The document linked below contains details of the products affected and contains instructions on how to identify whether a product in affected by the recall.

Full Link for the recall document here: http://dmmclimbing.com/documents/dmm-product-recall-14-09-2015.pdf

In a small percentage of carabiners the interaction between the internal coil spring (which gives the gate its closing action) and the gate pusher (the component that holds the spring against the carabiner body) may cause the gate pusher to displace, potentially preventing the gate from closing or the mechanism from locking completely.

This recall encompasses all of the products in the list below. All models, all colours and all gate types are potentially affected by the dysfunction.

A33# - Ultra D
A36# - Aero HMS
A82# - Zodiac
A84# - Kletterstieg
A872 - Belay Master
A89# - Boa 25kN
A90# - Boa 30kN
A91# - Captive Eye
A98K# - Sidewinder
C41# - 10mm Steel Offset D
C45# - 10mm Steel Oval
C81# - 12mm Steel Offset D
C84# - 12mm Steel Klettersteig
C85# - 12mm Steel Boa
C96# - Steel Captive Eye

With the following serial numbers (these run sequentially), which can be found on the spine of the carabiner.

2014 Production - 14138xxxxX to 14365xxxxX
2015 Production - 15001xxxxX to 15254xxxxX

Full details on how to inspect the type of pusher in your carabiner gate can be found within the recall document (http://dmmclimbing.com/documents/dmm-product-recall-14-09-2015.pdf)

Both DMM and our priority at this moment is to raise awareness of this issue and to finalise the logistics and returns processes so that we can provide an efficient turn around for all of our customers.
