Crack climbing gloves

This is a hack of an Ansell gardening glove: cut the fingers off and wear the rubberised palm on the back of your hand. The stretchy woven fabric makes this possible / comfortable and it breathes a bit so is not too sweaty (it's also not slippery on the palm when grabbing a hold). I got these from the supermarket; about $7and available in 3 sizes.

Recently gave them a workout on a couple of my local granite cracks and: no blood, plus I still have all the hairs on the back of my hand! I tape the wrists with electrical tape for extra security, but the rubber friction-grips to the skin pretty well. Being new to crack climbing these gloves help with the pain, giving confidence to weight a jam. I reckon these are just as secure as tape and better in that there is much less waste and no hair ripping.

They are flexible, reusable, and quick to take on and off—which is good for those new to crack climbing as I am; you can just have a quick go and over time build up technique / pain threshold / confidence.

Oh come on. If not having to endure the pain of losing the hair of the back of your hands counts as a plus, climbing granite cracks isn't the sport for you...

I use a different Ansell product for fist jams.

Does ansell make anything using lycra in it?
What ansell product do you use for the bike riding?
Have your people spoken with Miguels people about business opportunities here?

its handy to have soap and water around if there is a crack glove user in the party. We needed this in an incident at Frog B in 2009, where we had someone's very blue hand in a crack glove stuck in a crack. We were glad at the time the incident was close to the ground....

you could always carry aron's first aid kit too.

Having in the past worked Ansell gloves, I am glad they are being put to good use! The gloves are called Hyflex and have a Latex inner palm - really like what you have done by turning then over the other way. When I played around with them, I actually tried them in the snow:

The gloves were designed to be used in a variety of situations such as gardening, hobbies, painting and where good dexterity was required.

One other thing that I also have tried was 2 pairs of tight fitting disposable gloves which can act as a second skin.
