Washing ropes

I need to clean my rope as its putrid. Whats the smartest way to do it? Daisy chain it and in the washing machine? Or hand wash? Any info would be rad.

And yes, I will one day buy a rope bag.

Hand wash, mild detergent. Dry it properly.

Search for the other rope washing threads: http://www.google.com.au/search?q=site:chockstone.org+how+do+I+wash+a+rope

A cheap tarp is a start.

Washing machine, run a rinse cycle first to get rid of detergent, no soap, gentle cycle. I've done it with and without daisychaining first. It's much less tedious to unravel if you daisy chain them. My 8kg front loader was fine with 2 ropes at a time.

Want a cheap rope bag? Get one of these:

Also, if using a washing machine, keep in mind that top-loaders are much rougher than front-loaders. I don't know whether there's a significant risk of a rope being damaged by a top-loader, but I feel more comfortable with a front-loader.

Those trolleys are very cumbersome down gullies.

Hmm, I reckon I've heard this great advice before;)

I also reckon I saw one of these somewhere yesterday... Mmmm where was it?

I remember now! It was in the back of your car, next to your naked rope;)

+1 to ajf's suggestion, or alternatively use your partners rope!

Just the bag, not the trolley.

I thought about using this but the eucalyptus oil, glycerine and preservatives put me off.
