Whereabouts was the avalanche? Was there a trigger event that you saw or did it appear to be spontaneous?
Glad noone appears to have been hurt.
Was this the avalanche mentionned in the Blue Lake Ice Conditions thread?

a friend (?) borrowed my Chouinard original ice axe in 1986 to go to Blue Lake. He made it back but the axe didn't. C'est la vie. If anyone out there is hoarding it, just let me know, please! It would be nice to get it back my wife would love the extra clutter but you can keep it if you like....

Avalanche was here:

I triggered it.
Not huge, but big enough to scare the crap out of me and cause my crampons to gash my leg.

very lucky.
we got hit by an avalanche in nepal in February.
We got stuck at base camp for a couple of days due to heavy snow fall and high speed winds, weather cleared, stupidly decided to climb. hit 20,000ft, avalanche, buried, nearly died - everyone in the team broke a bone or 4 but thankfully nothing overly serious.
Did you go for a slide?
