Now I know there are some out there that get into this sort solo mission stuff and I'm not talking about masturbation.
I'm keen to try it out, and after some advice or suggestions on devices.
I've read the petzl info
http://www.petzl.com/en/outdoor/product-experience/self-belay-solo-climbing/introduction
and know that the likes of Steph Davis uses 2 mini traxions (chest and waist) or some big stuff. Does anyone have any experience with the DMM Buddy or ISC Ropegrab?

depends on what your doing:
TR solo - yeh mini traxion is good, two is probably better! gri gri woks but not amazingly. micro traxion might be amazing, but never used one as TR, but its a better pulley than mini so buy that one!
leading free - use a reverso/guide. light, useful for abseils, you already own it and runs well.
leading aid - normal gri-gri is fine, you always have your hand free to adjust rope AIDS climbing :)

I use a Petzl Microscender for TR solo and it works well.

Check supertopo for a thread on using Mini Traxions including a safety issue and a modification (search for Dremel tool will probably find it) to make the setup safer.
