the WRX & XT forrester are turbo & so fuel is worse, don't know the exact numbers. The head gasket failure usually happens at higher kms (100-150k) but I've heard with the newer engine (not sure when the engine changed, 05 maybe?) the failure is not so bad as it fails "out" & not "in". ie new head gasket to fix it & not an entire rebuild/new engine. They also have a reputation for timing belt/chains breaking, & the 100k services are stupid expensive. I like Subarus but they're often too expensive 2nd hand.
