I will be in Canberra mid-July and wondering what the latest is on the climbing areas? I think many of them were closed because of the bushfires couple of years ago?
any suggestions where to go?

not quite what you want, but check out this google map for ALL the Canberra climbing areas.

Ken (woodie.works) has quit climbing to take up building model trains.
I should know: he was my climbimg partner.
If you are keen for a climb give me an email.
I will be foot loose and fancy free in July.

All the granite is up and running again, the trees are even growing back :)
If it's sunny with not much wind, I'd recommend the north facing bits of Booroomba. It can be really beautiful at that time of year....of course if it's cloudy and howling wind you might get hypothermia!
A good, sunny, sheltered alternative is Red Rocks. It's a 30m crag on the river, really close to town and has about 15 sport routes (+ or - 4 bits of trad gear for the whole cliff)......and there's a new pamphlet guide out in the gear shops (plug, plug)

sounds all good - and it never rains in the ACT, right?
is there a guide out that I could get over the web?

Great place for Trad on granite and the best concentration of Granite bouldering in OZ.
