I am traveling to Australia in August. I am wondering how hard it is to find climbing partners in the Blue Mountains during that time, since it's your winter. I will be traveling with draws, harness, but might not have my rope. If there anywhere to rent a rope nearby? Any beta I can get for this trip would be most appreciated.

Three days has passed since your enquiry and I am surprised it hasn't had a response from a local yet; so as a distant reply ...
There are plenty of climbers who live up there, and even more who travel there, particularly on weekends. The cafes around Katoomba and the pub at Mt Victoria are good meeting places where climbers often hang out. You can also enquire at the outdoor type stores up there.
August has short daylight hours and plenty of poor weather days, however, if you jag some of the short fine spells that happen from time to time around then, then you are guaranteed crisp climbing conditions that can be spellbindingly glorious, along with fantastic scenery without the major crowds.

I am unaware of any rope rental places, though I would expect your queries to have a much better response for a climbing partner who likely has one, in July; due being closer to the date you will be there.
