I've heard good things about Blue Lake up near Kozzi when it comes to a bit of ice and steep snow. I'm looking at heading up that way next week, and had a few questions that a been there and done that type might be able to answer:
Where exactly is Blue Lake?
What are conditions like (or likely to be like) up there at the moment?
Is anyone else up for a week-long trip (probably 20-27)?
blue lake is 6km from guthega or around 4-5km from charlotte pass, all three points are on the "Perisher Valley" 1:25000 map from ...... *Shrug* outdoor stores (NSW land information or something is the publisher)
just check out the forecasts for the snowy mountain region on bom.gov.au or resort weather from www.ski.com.au
Was out there this weekend, but skied out there so we didn't look at the ice itself (went to the top of little twynam). the lake is still frozen over and there's still a fair bit of snow once you cross the swing bridge. It's been quite warm out there (this weekend it didn't get below 0 - went up to around 13 degrees but bloody windy!).
it's supposed to get coole from tonight (cold front) r but i probably wouldn't bother going out unless there was a lot more cold action.
