Stupid questions - Troopers Creek campground
5:06:28 PM

Never camped there before, so I just wanted input as to whether it's a ridiculous idea to get there on a Thursday night, pre-Easter (is it super-popular and will be jam-packed, or do we stand a chance?) in a 2wd (it'd specify somewhere that a 4wd was required for the access, wouldn't it?), without having trees fall on us (it wasn't effected by the fires, was it?).

Also, what's the nearest campsite (either bush or established) if it is full?

Thanks in advance...

Bitumen to the site. Thursday night, who knows? Worth a try

It is popular amongst the 4WD family types.

I was there two weekends ago, road (and trees) are fine.

I was also there last Easter, just walking through luckily, and it was packed full of family types.

Sealed road, nice spot, slopes a bit, creek was running last weekend apparently. Likely to be crowded. There's another spot a couple of km north on the east side of the road. Look for a couple of big pine trees in off the road.

I think you'd be OK on the Thursday night unless you have a big set-up.

There are probably three overflow campsites if you head north towards Roses Gap. Just look for the tracks heading off the road on your right (east). The first is Dead Bullock Creek (3.3km), the second is smaller (4.2km). The third one is past Roses Gap; go all the way to the Mt Zero Rd (7.7km), turn left (North) and there is a big camping area on the left a few hundred meters up the road. None of these have toilets so make sure you have the right resources to set up something adequate. None of them have water either.

Thanks all, much appreciated.
