Apparently Barfold Gorge is up for sale.... Which is listed as one of the banned climbing areas according to the VCC. Anyone ever climbed there in the distant past?
(You apparently can take a look at it on Sunday according to this article.)

Nice find Alex. I read the Age article this morning and scanned the picture to look at the cliff. (edit:- hadn't seen the additonal domain pictures! Very nice columns in the hill side shot)
The area and few routes done there were written up years ago in a guidebook (can't recall exactly which) and recently was planning to sneak in to check it out.
The walk into the gorge was also included in a bushwalking book years ago - and mentioned the need to keep a low profile as the landholders weren't happy about people even following the creek to the falls. I had thought that access along watercourses were always allowed, perhaps not?

I suppose we all could dream about owning your own private climbing area but I did note the following in the real estate blurb:
Generations of Peregrine Falcon have nested and been tagged for the past 30 years in the dramatic basalt cliffs.
Dreams are free..............

Like all (most?) basalt columnar formations the top cools at a quicker rate than the below-ground magma. This results in short columns forming on top of the longer below-ground columns. These short columns are not very stable, and they are on TOP of the cliff, making exits very problematic. I know because I didn't top-out more than 30 years ago when I went climbing there. Ian Sedgman did a couple of routes there back in the '80s. The cliffs aren't as good as the Jackson Creek Organ Pipes (opposite Calder Raceway).

It may be crud (albeit in a very attractive setting) but how often does anyone get the chance to buy their own crag in Victoria? Could anyone see their way to lending me a few mill at low-interest with no repayments for the first 30 years ?

For Sale- There is some bouldering nearby. You could drive if the walk seemed to daunting.
