Hey Guys,
Spent the last week climbing up at Fredericks peak just out of Townsville. Have had a ball and would definitely reccomend it to anyone wanting to escape a wet southern winter.
Plan to spend a few more days up here before checking out Harvey's Marbles. After that I'm a bit confused where to head. I've got a few short stops planned on the way south but I want to be in the grampians and araps for the best conditions. I also want to spend plenty of time at the bluies, so I'm a bit confused on where to visit first. Seeing though it will probably be towards the end of September before I'm close to Sydney, should I skip the bluies and head straight to the gramps and then make my way back to the bluies. Keeping in mind I plan to spend summer in Tassie.
Thanks for you input in advance.
Cheers
Jason

Super jealous - it's been dismal in Sydney - so much rain that half the crags will be seeping for the next fortnight as well.
Sounds like you're on to a good thing, follow your nose - there's some decent climbing in northern NSW if the skies still seem dark over the blue mountains.
PS thanks for the Townsville tip off, will have to checkout Fredericksburg one day.

On the way south don't forget to check out the cliffs around Brisbane in Queensland. Frog Buttress has amazing single pitch crack climbing, Tibrogargan has awesome single and mulitpitch sport and trad on a massive unique dome, Coolum has crazy steep sport climbing and there are plenty of other smaller areas worth a visit. If you like granite then a quick few days at Giraween is also worth a visit. Then head south to Bluies for cold weather single pitch climbing (or if you are lucky it warms up and stops raining and you get to do the bigger multipitch routes that I think make the Bluies really special). Gramps and Araps are amazing in October/November. It gets bloody hot at Christmas - so then head to Tasmania or back up to the cooler Blue Mountains.
If you have any style/grade/trad/sport preference let me know and I can tailor a much more specific itinerary!
