For the benefit of Melbourne-based climbers.
Closure warning signs were up on the bypass yesterday for this coming Friday to Sunday. However a search of the vicroads website didn't turn anything up.

Yeah...this was the same a few weeks ago...it's just the bypass that is closed....adds about 40mins max to the journey. Either side of it is fine.

VicTraffic seems to indicate it's the inbound lanes that will be closed at the weekend, with outbound closed until Friday, but presumably it'll be a dog's breakfast either way?

We'll be driving out from Melbourne around 10am Saturday, blah. Will they redirect via Ballarat Rd? Any better alternatives if so?

Out the Calder Freeway to Keilor then across to Melton on the "Melton Highway" is how I used to go pre-Western Ring Road.

Yeah, that looks more sane, thanks. We'll be coming from Tullamarine, will talk to the rental car folks first too.

The Melton route is about the same time to most destinations in any case.
Certainly quicker if you're starting from Tullamarine.
Just have a GPS handy or be well versed on the route beforehand (outbound is trickier than inbound IMHO).
