We are flying from Alaska to Melbourne on Wed for our dream climbing trip to Mt. Arapiles and the Grampians. Should we be concerned about the wildfires? Is it smoky in the Grampians or Mt. Arapiles? Any advice would sure be appreciated! Thanks!

Neither are burning yet - they are a far distance away from the Blue Mountains.

Doesnt mean it cant/wont happen - stay vigilant while you are hear. If you see/smell smoke it's worth checking the CFA (country fire authority) or listening to local (ABC) radio.

Have a good trip!

It is currently raining at Arapiles and Grampians.
Blue mountains fires are about 1100 kilometres away so no need to worry about them for a few days :)

Edit: Google "horsham vic bom forecast" to get a weather forecast for Arapiles - Horsham is 30km east of Arapiles.

BUT! There were large fires in the Grampians earlier this year - and many climbing areas in the National Park are still CLOSED or have limited access.

You'll be ok, The Grampians are further than from the fires than from Anchorage to the Canadian border.
