Neilo, yes, some estimates from the literature place 95% of the Thai population as followers of Theravada Bhuddism. A definite attraction of Thailand, though I had to question the sensibility of their presence within earshot of overt poverty (especially since the country has a thoroughly inept/corrupt social welfare system), are the pristine Buddhist monuments. Thailand is home to the world's tallest monument (in Lopburi? If my memory serves me correctly, it's been a few years). I recall a similarly impressive monument in the mountains north east of Chiang Mai.

These responses/questions are all pretty fair. However, my original question still stands
