My friend, Neill Lamb passed away, yesterday after being sick for a fair few months

Neill was a pioneering climber in Queensland in the 50s and 60s who did many first ascents throughout the state, especially in the Glass House Mountains (Tibro was his favourite)

Condolences to all of Neil's family and friends. He certainly was an important figure in Queensland climbing, with many major routes to his credit. Neil climbed with Bill Peascod who was one of the most significant climbers of the 1940's English lakes era, and who, incidentally, died on Cloggy while climbing with Don Whillans. Neil was a father figure of modern Queensland climbing and through his vision and neck, deeply influenced subsequent new generations of climbers. Michael Meadows blog (see links above) demonstrates quite clearly that Neil's legacy was huge. If anyone doubts the abilities of these pioneer climbers, I suggest that they rope up without kernmantle, harness, rock-shoes of any sort, chalk, tape, cams or nuts and see how they fare on any of Neil Lamb's classic multi-pitch climbs.
RIP Neil.
