6 December:

4 drunk bogans in their hoon car run through a red light and crash into a schoolbus, slightly injuring 25 schoolchildren. Obviously, the fault lies with the schoolchildren. If they didn't want to get injured, they should have stayed in bed that morning and not gone to school.

01 January

40 drunken ar..holes party at araps with loud, obnoxious music con generator, keeping awake 25 real climbers until 5am. Obviously, the fault lies with the real climbers. If they wanted a good night's sleep to climb the next day, they should have gone to baffin island.

Seriously, another post on the topic???

Everyone knows it gets busy and noisy NYE at Araps. The party in question was made public ages ago!

I've been once many years ago, but as I don't care for crowds or noise happily went to other areas over the years i.e Grampian's is huge and full of stellar climbing away from the crowds and noise...

So what's a real climber then? Do you have to walk to the crag fully kitted up? Be a trad climber? Wear socks with your climbing shoes?

For farks sake, it's one freaking night of the year mate.

Yoo hoo Mr freesolo. Derek my M10 love tells me that you need to buy a hammer and take it with you to your next NYE at Araps.
He also says that if you need a recommendation as to its effectiveness in con-troll-ing noise then Mr crazyjohn on this lovely forum will be happy to sort you out.

Please post a trip report afterwards, to let us know how you feel it turned out.

Your argument reminds me of those "you wouldn't steal a car" anti-piracy ads. Seriously, could you inject any more breathless hyperbole into your posts?

Are you bored today because no one wants to climb with you?

I am reminded of a story.

We were having a little party one dark night and American Steve Serious walked up, reached into the car and turned the volume knob down on the stereo then stormed off. Which was kind of silly cos when we turned it back up we had no idea of the previous setting and it may have been louder.

Another campsite denizen, lets call him Jon, then returned and we told him was had happened. Then Steve walked up again. Jon greeted him warmly, grabbed his hands and they started whipping each other around, reaching a great speed before they broke apart and flew off in opposite directions.

I picked up a fire stick and walked over to Steve to see if he was OK. And he was on his knees wailing that he'd broken his nose. Then I walked over to Jon who had rolled into a nearby campfire. There were six guys with beers in hand looking down at him. I asked him if he was OK, at which point Steve walked up and kicked him hard in the ribs. Jon had his eyes closed and grabbed my legs and I sank to the ground, assuring him that it wasn't me who kicked him.

I had an unlit cigarette in my mouth. I then looked up at the six guys. "Have you guys got a light?" They looked at me strangely. I then realised I had a burning branch in my hand. "Don't worry, I'm right." Lit my cigarette and returned to the party.

And the moral of the story is ...no I lost it...

Are you still organising that party tonight then Shortman? I put a public invite on facebook and we are looking at a pretty good turnout so far.

Just letting you know. It might be busy at Araps over Easter.

Got that whinger? Noisy at Araps over Easter.

And next New Years Eve and the Easter after that...

Just because your too old to have fun now, you seem to forget that long ago you also made grumpy old people confused by your strange music, long hair and youthful attitude.

Plus if you were at the party, you would have seen hot chicks in Binikis. Which might have stired some excitement in your Dementia riddled mind.

Oh come on those "binikis" were HOT ;p

The Big M bikinis migrated from Wendy and another lady to Simey and some other bloke by the end of the night ...
