So do my training sessions, apologies again to all within ear shot at cliff hanger on Tuesday night (-but Andy that new blue route is just plain nasty to us shorter climbers :))

I personally am not offended by bad language but I think Ronnys' distinction between gutter vs. sewer is a good one. From what I can tell the mods have been doing a great job in regards to offensive post regardless of wether they contain "bad language" or not. Keep up the good work I know it's a thankless task :)

Hmm, perhaps the mods felt less justified at deleting insults directed at them? Or maybe just showing us the crap they have to put up with?

Sometimes I wonder why I bother maintaining this site at all... :(

Cheer up Mike, the alpine weather report actually claims "Fine" for Sunday! The best report I've seen for ages. Might duck up and do Feathertop.

Whats the story with the Devious post being removed moderators?! Seems a bit heavy handed! He might
be disagreebale - but if all posts were deleted becaus eof disagreement then this site would be pretty
boring!!! - ?? (see heated gri-gri discussion for exampe!)

I agree - I posted a comment defending climbingjac's report but then deleted it after the "censorship" moment. While I see the value in supporting the Burnley sponsors, Drdevious certainly had a right to voice his criticism. The whole thing made me very uncomfortable.

I'd like to know that myself. I didn't see the post.

Yeah CS is getting boring enough as it is.

Devious's post didn't seem to me to be either (a) offensive or (b) actually damaging to what's going on at Burnley/getting sponsors etc.

Another reason to spend the day in front of Chockstone hitting refresh, refresh, refresh. You catch all the juicy bits and turkey slaps

Do the mods keep a record of things they delete?

What a load of horse shit. If people want to to have a bit of a f---in go let them. hehe. Let people make their own judgements. Us climbers like our freedom and hate bloody contraints. Respond at will!! Love a bit of harmless controversy. hehe

I'd recommend setting up a private (for mods only) archive where deleted posts can reside. This way if agreement cannot be reached amongst the mods then the post can either stay hidden in the private forum or sent back from whence it came. This works brilliantly on rockclimbing.com. Oh yes porn pics are also sent there for the personal edification of the mods where they are poured over for weeks before a decision is made whether to permanently delete or not. ;))

Drdevious merely stated that he/she did not share climbingjac's "dream of expanding the climbing community", and that he/she didn't agree with the facility being used as a marketing exercise for a private business. What's wrong with that? Or does climbinjac want to censor all those who don't speak of Burnley with the same reverence as herself (or who - shock horror - might offend the commercial sponsors)?

Whether you mean pored over or poured over, this paints moderators in a far from reverent pose. ugh.

I came upon this funny auto edit from the swearing filter today! One of Australia's most prolific climbers
is apparently not accepted by the powers that be...

No shit.

Before you go, I'd just like to let you know your comments are being heard. FYI, not all moderators want to see the level of censorship we've see lately, and indeed one has quit out of frustration over the issue. Some moderators were pushing for far more censorship, some want to see less. The swear word filter, that filters three words only, was seen as a compromise. I don't think that should be too much a problem should it?

We have to try and find a happy medium which apparently is harder than it might at first seem. But don't worry, we're working to try and improve the situation. So please keep the feedback coming, it actually is good and helpful to hear the opinions on this. Mind you, posts re dick size and the like actually aren’t helpful…

If you read my comments in the Dr's Rant thread you’ll know how I personally feel about the issue. I think a bit of colourful language is far from the biggest problem, if indeed it's a problem at all. I'd actually prefer to no censorship, but there does come a point where we have to consider other users... and there are a lot of users here. So if ppl think about that before they post then there should be fewer problems.

Cheers dude.

Now where the f--k was I…
