Thanks for your supportive words Sarah. Of course there are those cynics out there who believe that I am photographing women climbers for other reasons.
Trust me though, when it comes to climbing photography I am a very pure and dedicated soul who never lets impure thoughts interfere with my expression of climber and rock.
There has been only one occasion where I have had to loosen the shackles on my high moral values. We all know that 'sex sells' and I knew that if the guidebook was going to be on the best seller lists it had to include a little eye candy for the ladies... hence the photo of Eduardo and Glenn on page 303.

Ha ha I know the picture you mean and funnily enough that's my dad's favourite picture, it makes him feel like his demograph is represented too!

@StuckinLara: Nice review, although for the sake of some random trolling it's not the "best guidebook in the world" (not that the article says that outright).
For my money that honour goes to Peter Balint's Sydney Bouldering guide - you would not believe how many seppos have offered to buy it from me, even though they have zero intention of ever going on a bouldering trip to Sydney!

It's not just about runs on the board, but also the length of the innings

As an out of town user I found the Sydney Bouldering Guide very confusing. It has a great lack of maps or diagrams showing the general location of the areas in Sydney. Flipping through it I have no idea if a bouldering area is close to me or not. Listing by suburbs doesn't help someone is is geographically challenged!

Thats the idea Neil keeps the mexicans south of the border..plus most cant read anyway.
Seriously though...its a good first attempt but needs a second edition with a few fixes would make it alot better.

Not only that, there's a really ugly photo on page 90 ;-) Also Peter Balint says on page 2 that Mike Myers was a climber who had only bouldered - this is clearly a case of historical revisionism in an effort to make boulderers feel better about never getting far off the ground...

There is an interesting review in the latest issue of pommie mag, CLIMB on the Sydney online guide, Sun Surf and Sandstone: A Rockclimbers Guide to Sydney.
The reviewer believes the guide is a " pointer to the way things in the guidebook world are bound to go everywhere, given time".
Get's pretty good raps all round and I'd have to agree. It's a pretty bloody good guide, especially for the price.

I reckon it's shit and the editor is a big wanker. ;-)
Seriously though, thanks for the pointer - I'll have to go and buy the mag and see what they have to say. Which issue is it?

And oh so handy to Melbourne!
The wonderful thing about Sydney bouldering, besides the fact it is diverse and high quality, is that it is in Sydney. Where as, the bouldering in Melbourne is either indoors or glued to a bridge. The Grampians isn't in Melbourne. You have to drive there, which doesn't really make it value for money if you are after a pre-work or post-work boulder or only have a few hours to spare.
And then you can go to the beach. ha ha ha

No, I don't think Neil would know much about the Grampians.

Yeah sydney has heaps of rock for those who desire to boulder, especially in the southern shire and northern suburbs...lots of virgin rock so you can have a crag to yourself if you want..thats Sydney strength...just go for a walk and have fun.
The bouldering guide is for those that want to get a start on what Sydney has to offer...but to list all areas would be impossible.
