velcros and slippers are much quicker and easier to take on and off opposed to laces which take a bit longer (except for quick lacing systems which are comparable)..
velcros and slippers you want to have very snug around your toe-box as generally there is no adjustment around this area in comparison to lace-ups whih can be adjusted all the way. does that help at all?

I wish I had fairy feet - my oversized monstrosities make me feel like godzilla stomping tokyo on any climb with smallish footholds.

Other than Rich's comment re toebox fit - I'm not sure your foot size is relevent to choosing slipper/velcro vs laced. I like velcro because I do a lot of my climbing in the gym and like being able to take shoes off/on between each climb.

I prefer lace up cos I want a snug fit.

no you're right ben. and neats you should be able to get a good fit for either type for whatever shape foot you have.. just try a few shoes on!
