Another knot proposal for chocky analysis / trolling...
(also suffering from Chockstone nostalgia, all too quiet lately — hopefully a defibrillator post)

Would a figure 8 bunny ear work in a sling?

Yeah, why not bro?
Though would be a bastard to untie if loaded heavily.
Thought of you climbing Ozy with the old farts, err old bros, the other day when weather man said Buff got 270 mm rain in one hit. Good to see your keyboard is still obviously functional as!

Hi Tim,
I wanted to say it was in the old Craig Luebben book, but I can’t see it there.
At any rate, I learnt this pretty early on in my climbing journey. Don’t use it very often however.
As long as you can build something solid, efficiency is the name of the game.

One serious flaw with 'bunny ears' knots is that there is one strand on the knot that were it to fail you lose the whole shebang. It is the outside strand of the 'ears'. In industrial use, a 'bunny ears' set up to two anchor points is considered only one anchor point due to this particular reason.

By outside strand do you mean the part inside the fig8 that is between the ears?
Ropelab has tested cutting one ear but it's member content (good reason to join) but one of their public articles mentions it https://www.ropelab.com.au/figure-of-8-bunny-ears/
