Where to buy climbing gear?

Hi all,

I am moving back to Australia after a few years in Europe. I'm trying to decide whether its cheaper to buy gear (mainly rope and quickdraws) in the UK before I leave, or wait until I get back. Can anyone point me in the direction of where the best places around the Melbourne/Ballarat/Bendigo areas are to buy climbing gear?

Thanks in advance for any help!

=)

In Melbourne, if I want to eyeball the item or try it on, I go to Bogong Equipment in Little Bourke St. Alternatively, if it's something Bogong can't get and I'm comfortable buying it online, then Rock Hardware in Bendigo (www.rockhardware.com.au) is my fallback. Both have excellent service and product knowledge.

In Bendigo definitely Steve and John Morris at Rock Hardware, they have been my go to shop for about 15 years now.

I also like Bogong in Melbourne and there are a few other stores in that same street.
For your research on prices, as well as Rock Hardware, have a look at Climbing Anchors (Sydney). I have made at least one online purchased from them and had no issues.

Rock hardware. I have no affiliation with them whatsoever, but Steve is awesome on the customer service side and customer loyalty / reward. It's a no brainer ...

I second (third or fourth) Rock Hardware as being the bees knees. I have used Steve a few times and he (along with the rest of the employees) are more than happy to discuss solutions and even offered training for a particular need that I had once. I will definitely be going back when I need to upgrade and recommend that everyone at least consider shopping there.
