Absolutely, swing it like a hammer is the only way to do it.
Only takes a 100mm backswing to apply a considerable force.

First time I saw a stabber at work I just scratched my head and wondered WTF he was doing.

Ok no offence but picking up on badarmman's theme. I suspect this is a piece of kit that will appeal to gumby's like shortman, kg or chinna who can't get gear out for shit in any circumstance.

Not sure it will turn them into expert gear extractors, but they'll enjoy playing with the clicky thingy whilst they completely fail to get the basic logic of getting gear out.

I suggest you include a flame option that lights a sneaky pipe one handed to help them pass the time while they ineffectively whack a partially stuck nut that they are singlemindedly convinced that you need an up whack to get it out when nongumbys realise you need to tap back first then up.

Finally got LittleHammer up on Kickstarter — launched about half an hour ago, and have 6 backers already!

I've got a great introductory pledge with free postage if you're quick (20 limit).

It's been over a year of work to get to this point but now I know the hard graft begins: spreading the word. Anyway it's been fun and I've had lots of interest and great feedback to help me get here.

Yeah it's 11% now which is good for the first day.
Rack Sack only got to 16% after 30 days.!

We are at 67% of our funding goal after 6 days with 55 backers (with thanks to the 4 backers from chockie!) so it's looking good, I'm talking to the manufacturers already, will place orders as soon as we get to 100% even if that's before the 30 days.

The kickstarter campaign has reached 100% and still with 17 days to go!

LittleHammer will go into production thanks to all our backers.

This is such an affirmation of LittleHammer and a reward for the work that has got us to this point, along with a lot of help from friends.

It feels really good to have such a great crew of backers to make this happen, may you be rewarded with booty (abandoned pro retrieved by LittleHammer) and happy hands (no more barked knuckles).

Once this product gets 'out there' into the real world of usage in climbers hands, I predict another surge in demand for it; as that is when the word will truly spread as people get to see and try the item for themselves, and then also want one...

Thanks M9 and MonkeyBoy, and all of Chockstone as we got quite a few backers from here.

It is very exciting to get to go into production and get LittleHammer out into the world.

The passing 100% bonus went to Australia, awake at the time of posting luckily! I have a question for you Tim.
How much energy can this thing impart?
How does it compare to even a 3" backswing with a normal nut tool?

What is it's total weight?
If it is substantial, then it may simply be a lighter system to carry a very small hammer with you to hit a normal nut tool.

I'm curious as to how good this thing can be.

How long are your arms Mr Armband? A 3 foot swing is impressive if you could land it accurately on a #1 RP. I imagine from looking at the size of the little thor from the video that it must weigh less than any climbing hammer with the advantage of being able to be used 1 handed.

Or well-stuck ball nuts, where you might otherwise need 3 damn hands. Grrr.

So the basis of my scepticism is this:

If you use the stab method, you are limited to the amount you can push and especially the amount of pain you can tolerate with your hand.
Now seeing as this sprung weight has to be opposed by your hand, it must also impart the same hurt or lack of power as stabbing with your hand.

So in essence you have gained nothing as stabbing is single handed also.

Now a small tap far exceeds the force imparted by a stab, and can also be done single handed if you clip the nut so it won't go flying when it comes out.

So what is gained here apart from weight and complexity?
I am as big of a gear whore as anybody, but please tell me how this is an improvement over existing tools.
