To many of us boulderers about these days for that concept to ever catch on.
Why do I get the feeling those shorts are watching me?

Sure to give a few gym supervisors a good scare or two.

I came accross these on the MD website last night - stupidest thing i've ever seen (even worse than the booty ODH is holding hostage)

They invoke the old maxim "just because you can, doesn't mean you should"

If you are talking about the harness-shorts you are not wrong.
Mammut enforce that maxim by not having a fly incorporated, or for that matter a belay loop either...
About as useful as belay glasses ODH's un-named booty.

Heh, heh, heh.

How often does that happen!?!? Post a reply only to be beaten by seconds, ruining the whole flow!

Yep it was the shorts/harness or is it a shorness or shartness maybe?

That's what the quote function is for.

Let me have a guess - it's a cordelette. A 8m long piece of nylon deadweight that sat on my harness for a while. Ended up using twin ropes for almost all belays anyway. Now it sits at home in the climbing gear "graveyard drawer" along with the rappel rack, figure eights, sticht plate with spring, worn out tube, and a rack of pitons.

How it found it's way down to Nowra is anyone's guess. It could be migration/breeding season for these things and it got lost on the way to Boroomba. I'm sure my numbtyness is genetic and has little to do with it. I only want it back if by some chance it's transformed into brand new 12mm spectra tape or 5mm cord - I'd like to resling my hexes. Thanks

And we have a winner! This clever piece of kit rolls up into a bundle no larger than a football, and allows you to quickly equalise a belay as long as the three pieces are no further than one meter apart. There's no longer any reason to carry two single and one double length sling when you can now achieve exactly the same result with only twice the weight, five times the cluster, and about one fiftieth of the usefulness for any other task.

So Rocksin, you want your chunkalette back? I've been using it to open my front door without getting up off the couch (2 rooms away)

They have their uses when it comes to climbing adventure choss, and multipitch walls, though spectra is lighter for the purpose.

Thanks for the update M9... I was in France at the time. Would have had a field day on ODH if I'd seen it...

Surely a joke on his behalf? Has ODH's keyboard rants fused his cervical vertebrae? Kids these days can't look up?

They were ODH's response to people spending hundreds of dollars on belay glasses.

Have now read the original topic - he still wasted $14.03 and time on this... And wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't used them since.

Sure you can! you just rap single strand on the side of the rope the slings aren't extending...
