My question has been answered, thank you.

Cool, just scratch the rounded ones up witha bit of sand and you won't look like a gumby with new gear.
They just done new rack buyers a favour.

I'm guessing that the lobes are thrown into a large tub of moving polishing stones to remove sharp edges like you can see on the DMM video on making dragon cams.
How they come out would depend on how aggressively hey we're polished.

No biggy.

Whoah, had a tough week at work Saz? I don't reckon rightarmbad's response was that snarky.

To answer your question, having square or round edges on the lobes makes no difference at all to how the cam will handle. My cynical side suspects that the BD marketing department decided that the market prefers the "slinky smooth look" over the "russian beefy look" :)

The "tumbling" process in manufacturing effects things like this.

Affect

In order to understand the correct situation in which to use the word affect or effect, the first thing one must do is have a clear understanding of what each word means. According to yourDictionary.com, the word Affect means:

To have an influence on or cause a change in: e.g. Inflation affects the buying power of the dollar.

Hi Sarah,

I've noticed a few of my C4's have the same rounded striations, while some have the more square ones. They all work but I still feel scared running it out above them all;)

Don't worry about any funky replies, I reckon they're jealous of your new cam;)

Effect is perfectly acceptable, look up the meaning of effect.

So you're trying to use it as a synonym of "causes"? I don't think it works like that, although Wendy seems to use it exclusively instead of the traditional and unambiguous "causes"

Well, I reckon it's hipster bullshit which has appeared in the last couple of years. If you want to express that A causes B, what the fuch is wrong with "causes"?

Nothing, but it doesn't make "effects" wrong.

You're not really qualified to be the Chockstone grammar enforcer are you?

Unfortunately I think that "effects" is legit in this case buts it's very ugly.

As well as the ugly use of effect in place of affect my other pet hate is using "disinterested" in place of "uninterested". Yes yes yes I know a dictionary now says its the same but that's only cos dumb fuchs persisted in using it in the wrong situation. Now a beautiful word is corrupted.

That sounds pretty gay to me.

Back on topic. Realsaz, did you know that even if the cam lobes had no milling grooves they would still function as well as designed? In other words, that feature is largely cosmetic.

Do you mean happy, lighthearted? Or do you mean homosexual? Pretty ordinary use of language to link homosexuality with a negative...
