forget a woodie - how much fun would one of these be?

I've never quite seen the point to be honest, unless a houseful of chalk-dust-encrusted belongings and the delicate but all-pervasive aroma of sweaty climbing shoes floats your boat...

i really like the idea - appeals to the kid in me - and would definitely appeal to my kids. We have 8m high roof in our house, and one of the end walls would be a natural for this. But as my wife points out, St peters gym is 5 mins away and building this would cost about 300 years membership...

Like the time I came home from a climbing trip to find my house mate and a certain DaveJ had turned our lounge room into climbing gym.
I can't say my boat was floated, but I did participate, and yes, everything in the whole house was coated in chalk dust

They may look cool but they ain't a joy to use. These are installed on the wall at my local Virgin gym, and apart from the crappy route setting, are probably the reason I'm the only one who ever seems to use the wall.
Apart from the constant feeling of being hauled, I still find it scary every time to trust the mech, as you fall about a meter before it fully engages. Not something that inspires confidence, I'd much prefer a belayer.
Good looking wall though. I like vertical. As for the chalk dust, if you could afford the wall you could afford cleaners, or some industrial suction fans.

The Old Cardigan street woodie? If so, great little wall to train on - but did take up prime realestate in the main living room!

That says a lot about your choice of pussy, and not so latent s+m tendency.
As far as the expensive climbing wall in the house goes, it'd be great for a little while but once you have the 3 moves dialled what would you do next?

Tiddling a pom - man you are sick.
PS. Eduardo's doesn't have a Whopper. The only reason he needs two hands to scratch or rub anything is that his hands are so small he needs two hands to scratch his chin.

Wouldn't look so flash once you'd smeared chalk all over it...
