If you allready have printing set up on your idevice, take a screen shot by pressing the power and the curcle buttons at the same time, and print that...?

It is as easy as that.

I've never tried it to be honest boys, but I imagine it would probably work ok for text, and pretty poorly for images as the resolution just wouldn't be there.

Sprung. And I wish the gym was still going: it has helped me keep my old bones climbing. We are still waiting to see if we will ever have decent gym down our way again.

Just took a screen shot of a photo stored on my phone. Resolution looks pretty good so it might work with the App ...?

What's the go if you have an iPhone but it isn't the iPhone 4 version?

hey Skegly,
No plans for a Blackberry port at the moment, but again, if there's demand, it's something we may look at in the future. Do many climbers have blackberry's? I thought they were more targeted at business people?

hey Simey,
You don't need a version 4 iPhone (I'm running it on a 3GS and Ed is running it on an old iPod touch), you just need to have the operating system (iOS) of the phone running at least version 4. I think that pretty much any iPhone or iPod touch regardless of how old, should be able to run iOS 4.

Remind me to never help Simey with his iPhone again. Three hours of stuffing around to upgrade him to iOS5, setting up his phone, then losing his contacts, then finding them again... Jeebus! Well at least he now has a copy of his own app on it. Actually the only app he has put on it!

And for those who have purchased the app, you should've noticed that on the weekend we pushed through an upgrade to overcome potential problems introduced by Apple's new iOS5. So if you haven't bothered upgrading to iOS5 yet you shouldn't notice any problems anyway.

Also, we're getting feedback that people who have purchased the app are unable to submit reviews for it in iTunes. We're working on this now but if you've experienced this problem please let us know via info@icragguides.com. If you like the app (and we hope you do) please try submit a review on iTunes and let us know how it goes.

Did you by any chance get a copy of Simey's Contacts List?

I mean, all those "Lucky Ladies"!

If you could GPS it as well so it shows you where you are on the crag, that would be an impressive app. That said, would take some of the adventure out of wondering (1) where you are (2) what you are climbing (3) why you took up climbing rather than bowling, being very common thoughts I have when climbing.

Hmmm... "lucky" ladies indeed. I felt it wise to avert my eyes.

There will be upgrades of the app in future. This will likely/possibly include things like ticklist storage capabilities and GPS. A lot depends on the feedback we get from the app users. Considering the amount of work involved in developing the app to function at the level of quality we wanted it to, we chose to focus only on the core functionality for this initial release. That is, the gudebook.

I'm with you on the moments of wondering "why am I doing this when I could be at home by the pool".

Even better if you could build in some random google-maps type errors telling people on Diapason that they are actually on Punks.

One annoyance is that you lose your search parameters every time you move away from your search. So, I'm looking for starred 18-21's with afternoon shade sorted by area. Mmm, what's this Stormalong? I select it and find it's a "wierd line of sustained jamming". Perhaps not today, what else is there? Now I have to re-enter all the search criteria and scroll down the list to where I was instead of just flicking back to it.

Sorry for the slow response, just saw this.

This is certainly a bit of a pain, and will be fixed in the not too distant future. We've found a couple of minor glitches introduced with iOS 5 that will be fixed shortly, so we'll roll a fix for this issue into that release. There will also be additions of new fixed anchors etc. that have popped up.

Has anyone else been having issues with reviewing the app? Seems like finally someone has been able to put a review in, though I've heard that other people have ran into all sorts of issues.

Any issues, drop us a line at info@icragguides.com or on twitter (@icragguides)

cheers

Hi all. We're releasing a major update/upgrade to the Arapiles iPhone/iPod Touch app in the next weeks.

Improvements include the operation of the Search function in response to User feedback and an improvement to the look of the Main Page and App buttons (which I've never been happy with). A couple of minor bugs are also fixed.

The main thing though is we're adding a number of new lower-offs/raps and routes that are not in the current guide including the (very) recently completed project on the back of the Pharos (that apparently goes at 30+), the bolted direct start to Jenny Wren, HB's little roof problem on the Bluffs left of Ivan and Kieran Lawton's 26 left of Birdman of Alcatraz.

Could anyone who has knowledge of new (worthy) routes that have been put up at Arapiles please let us know on info@icragguides.com as soon as possible so we can include them. Also if any problems or errors have been detected, please let us know.

Anyone who has already bought the app will get an indication that an update to their Arapiles app is available. Just download it to get all the new route info - it is free.

Oh, yeah... the "RockClimbs Around Melbourne" app should be completed soon. It's been a busy Xmas.

New version of the Arapiles app has just been approved in the App store, so should be available for update shortly.

In summary it contains:
-20 new routes
-9 new topos
-18 new lower offs
-Improved search functionality (remembers the criteria which you last searched with and the resulting list of climbs matching the criteria)

Enjoy!

Great stuff - the last point fixes my only real gripe with the app
