ODH, pole work. But you cant give people a gizzmo like that and expect it to last. Its an item thats going to die/get lost/ stolen et al. Useful if cheap, not worth a go if expensive.

I can just see wearing a pair as I carefully scrape pidgeon shit with a 25ft pole looking in my CU glasses as the 470 bus cleans me up in the guttuer on George St.

The glasses actually magnify as well as reflecting - I believe that's why they use prisms instead of mirrors.

This is also the reason why I don't like using them outdoors - with magnification (as well as frames, small prism size, blah blah blah) comes a *significant* loss in peripheral vision, and that's a problem when it comes to horizontal movements or fast movements (eg. falling).

But for the gym they're great!

Hello, my name is Albi Schneider and I´m the inventor of these CU (see you) belay glasses. I would like to explain why I´m using prisms instead of mirrors: the image you get with prisms isn´t reversed and so you can see your partner in the same way as if you look at him without the belay glasses. yikes!! unless you have a legit neck problem i reckon this is consumerism out of control. is it really nessesary to demand a product to fix every minor discomfort that we suffer????

how about spending the money on yoga classes???.... i found that the sore neck/inability to look up was overcome by long term yoga to lengthen the vertibrae and open the chest...not only do i no longer get a sore neck from belaying, i just dont ever get a sore neck...plus a bunch or other benfits, which you also wont have adress by buying some product

i paid for, use and swear by them: less fatigue and more concentration on belaying - tendency to be LESS affected by distractions going on at the base (noise and visual).

claimed extension of benefits into the multi-pitch arena i'm far less convinced of, its just another clusterfcuk item to me, but whatever floats your boat.

as for expense, these are geeky, unfashionable items and hence there's NO way to justify a price premium - manufacture them elsewhere, drop the price to less than $10 and eliminate resellers :)

My girlfriend bought me these for Christmas. I thought they were a bit gimmicky at first but after 6 months of regular use I can tell you they are amazing. Besides eliminating 'belayers neck' you actually end up giving a safer belay as you cant help but watch the climber the entire time. The glasses are really well made and are still in perfect nick after alot of use. Best and cheapest to buy them from Albi at http://www.powernplay.com/ . When delivery was a bit slow Albi stayed in regular email contact to help track the parcel and make sure they arrived. Buy and enjoy.....

Hello "one day hero", maybe you are interested to give the CU (see you) belay glasses a real chance to be tested, and to give the forum an "objectiv" review about the CU belay glasses? Kind regards Albi.

Hmmm, maybe I'll just make some with mirrors, then turn around to belay facing outwards :)

Actually, I visited a friend in Munchen 2 years ago and got to try your belay glasses in the gym. They worked surprisingly well, but are not something I would use. If I climbed a lot in the gym or had to belay my boyfriend every weekend on his stupid project which is too hard for him, I might be in the market.

P.S. I like your pun.......German humour seems to be making fantastic advances recently

Yes, I own a pair & they are awesome. I originally got them as I had injured my neck, & although Im now better, I would not be without them. I never have to suffer a crick neck again even when belaying a long multi pitch.
What did surprise me however, is that the vision is much wider & higher than expected & the prisms are crystal clear & slightly magnified.This somehow gives you better vision than normal & makes it easier to see the leader clearly at a distance. They also work well on slabs but obviously not on a long traverse. They are available from powernplay.com

Hey, can anyone teach me how to get photos from my USB thing onto chocky forum?

I have built my super-kickarse belay hat, which will render the CU glasses totally obsolete......however, I don't have the computer skills required to share this revolutionary invention with the aussie climbing community.

Make sure any computer advice is written with small words, as I don't know much.....I managed to save photos to the desktop, so go from there.

Ta........wait till you see this belay hat, its badass!
