Yup really lame but in keeping with my current theme of putting my gear on a diet I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for ultralight cups that are round, have a folding handle and preferably available in Aus/NZ.
Ive done the rounds of the local stores and all thats available are the military type kidney cups.
Thoughts??

Real men diss cups*...

For walling I deliberately manage to leave the cup behind, but if real coffee is available it is a cruel act# !
(# choc coated coffee beans can sometimes make an acceptable substitute!)

you can drill holes in them to make them lighter.

Just wear washing up gloves at all times. When you're thirsty, cup one hand.

Some rather amusing replies in amongst that lot..
Found some titanium cups from a US retailer with folding handles that weigh in at just over 20g the kicker is that they are almost 60USD.
M9 Rest assured there is always real coffee...

I'm pretty obsessive about lightweight, but I've never thought about fussing about my bog standard plastic camping cup. It's an insulated sort so that I don't have tepid tea. I just stuck it on the scales to check I wasn't building my legs up carting around the excessive weight. 80 grams. I think i can cope. I even like the handle. I hang it off the straps of the pack by it so it's quick and easy to grab and dip into any passing creek.

I'd find it hard to believe a cheap plastic cup from the supermarket would be significantly heavier than a fancy expensive one from an outdoor store. The lightwieght trick would be to use someone elses.

That's about $1 per gram of advantage over my insulated camping cup. The insulated bit might be extravagant, depends on how quickly you drink the coffee. On which note, surely the coffee making part of the equation is far heavier than the cup?

I think the insulation is mandatory in a camping cup. Sitting around at night drinking cold Gluvine is terrible. Ditto coffee on cold mornings.

I have a 700ml cup which also serves as a bowl/plate real value as you tend to get larger portions of shared drinks . well worth the little extra weight minus the plate weight .

actually.. It may sound a little od, but placing a condom in a sock works as a great water carrier/cup.. Pretty lightweight and i guess there could be other uses...

That not only sounds VERY odd but also outright wrong.

Wouldn't that impart a certain flavour to all your beverages?

HAHA Just buy flavoured condoms, then you could impart any taste you liked...

If you want to lighten your bank account, you can buy super light titanium cups from somewhere like rei.com.
If you want to lighten your pack, focus on whatever has significant weight, ie not your cup.
