I found that being on endone removed the requirement to wipe my own arse. I also kind of miss sitting in a chair in the shower. I definitely miss have all my meals prepared for me and not doing any washing up for about 4 months.

C'mon dave, is that the best you can do? I'm hardly going to bite at that............christ, is there anything that you're actually good at?

Personally, I'm glad ODH has written every one of his posts and believe that some good can come from every one of them.

How's the healing process coming along, Eve?

thanks Doug, healing is continuing in a beautiful purple plaster. I had the stitches and backslap removed a week and a half ago and the doc was happy with the healing. The foot looked almost normal (I guess I've gotten so used to it being swollen like a basketball), except for the pretty big scar on the outside of the ankle.
The plaster is now staying on for a total of 6 weeks but I can do some movement inside the plaster and the discomfort is almost minimal (compared to what it was). first drive (in automatic) 2 days ago and getting pretty good hobbling along in the supermarket. on the climbing wall (in our house), I just drag myself along on the lower holds and just do mini-pull-ups. All in all, I can't complain (needless to say that I'm looking forward to getting the bloody thing off :-); now 4,5 weeks to go...).

tomorrow the plaster comes off and I'll then graduate to a moonboot.
But climbing was still possible:

I seem to recall Steve Monks seconding Saggitarian (23) on Dec Crag with a broken 'foot'. The plaster had been texta'd to look like a Fire climbing boot to help with friction.

Hi Gad, just stumbled across your post. I had a 50ft fall on 13/05/13. I managed a few nasty injuries including seriously breaking both feet, knee and my back. My left calcaneus is completey shattered and I am now post op. Doctors/surgeons prognosis is the same as yours "life changing injury" "unable to walk on uneven ground" chronic arthiritis". I was interested to know how you were coming along with your recovery?
Many thanks, Leon.

Jeez, treewalker, that sounds bad. Good luck with your recovery - sounds like you are somewhat lucky to be posting this today. Care to share what happened?
