I am experienced with this.

Warming down sucks but works. Do some very very easy work at the end of the session to keep blood flow to the trained muscles. Stretching whilst warm can be good to, but to alieve muscle soreness the warm down seems key.

Cold water. Have a cold shower. If you have really hammered yourself alternate a hot radox bath with a hosing down with cold water on the lawn a few times, about rmins each cycle. Again a blood flow thing.

Oh and HTFU

Many moons ago in a land far, far away (America) a mystical shop (Costco) used to sell happy pills (Ibuprofen) that made most every ache disappear as if by magic. I used to buy the bulk twin pack of ~1000 pills and after a hard day boarding would eat them like lollies, rejoicing in their recuperative powers.

It was a day of mixed emotions when the medical fraternity ruined Ibuprofen for me by releasing warnings detailing how too much of a good thing (ibuprofen) could cause gastro-intestinal and or liver damage. Sad because Costco stopped selling it in bulk; happy because the placebo effect works and they still sold jelly-bellys in bulk;)

As a non trained, though professional jelly-belly abuser I recommend a handful of jelly-bellys 3-4 times per day. If pain persists, eat more jelly-bellys. If it still persists and you gain lots of weight see a medical professional, preferably a real one.
