Everyone - ease off on the personal insults. Not doing yourselves and favours with the juvenile behaviour and name calling.

If you can't keep the discussion relatively civil I'll lock accounts again...

so I get the impression that given the guy hit the deck, this 'Hero' character's pulled out the primary school name calling because he thinks it's unreasonable to enquire about the details of what happened? Interesting perspective. How bout we leave the personal insecurities off the site & all have a go at playing nice hey.

The malice running through some of the posts on this site is bizarre, does nothing positive or constructive for any of the other users & clearly needs to be addressed.

seriously, if you didnt know that not paying attention or being unfamiliar with your belay device is unsafe then you shouldnt be belaying without close supervision!

Apart from your gender issues due to you last name being c--k and your user name being a girls name can't you lighten up a bit fella? Some douche nearly killed someone because they could not belay. ODH has hit hard and I see no problem with that. I want to know the name of the belayer so they never belay me.

Maybe he was just asking to generate a bit of discussion and find out what went wrong!?! I dont think his comments mean he has no idea. I reckon everyone can benefit, especially noobs like myself, from dissecting an accident. Without sounding like a ghoul, I'm interested in finding out what led to the recent fatality at Camels Hump too.

I reckon there's been a bit of agro/dark cloud over Chocky of late. A bit of stirring/slagging is lots of fun, especially when due, but not personal attacks... As an aside I lurk on Mountainproject.com as I find it a wealth of info, and have also noticed a fair bit of agro happening over there too...

David Filan, I'm concerned, is everything ok? ummm, you've actually spelt my last name wrong, & the 'your user name being a girls name' call... ? You might like to have a chat with the helpful team at Lifeline - 13 11 14. They're happy to chat with you about any issues you might need to work through.

Best.

Yes, that's exactly what he was trying to do, and that's why I started hanging shit on him! To quote Stugang, "I can't believe that I'm actually about explain something this simple, but...."

Look, my whole bit with Chockstone SVU, that's kind of a jokey way of pointing out that you can't solve real life mysteries by sitting on a chatroom and asking "did anyone see who did it?" If an 8 year old tried to solve something with that method, I'd think they were pretty dumb for their age. The idea that a grown adult would try it is absolutely mind boggling!

So if you want to acquire more info about this incident, you need to find the belayer. Winston Smith knows what the climber looks like, so you need to ask him to ask the climber who the belayer was, track that person down, and try to get a straight answer out of them.......after that, there's a whole lot more problems, because someone stupid enough to let go of the rope probably isn't going to be much help in dissecting the incident. However, that isn't my point. My point is that you will achieve absolutely fuching nothing by sitting on chocky and speculating about it, so suggesting this as a useful course of action is equivalent to putting a sticker on your forehead which says "I'm a retard, please take the piss out of me"

Anyway, now that I've gotten that out of my system.......is there anything in life less dignified than a f.o.t. chucking a tissy fit?

How would you have known that, without having been in the chat room? Some 8 year olds are smart.

I like the Chocky SVU bit, it adds a bit of prime time excitement, especially if we can rope Olivia(?) (boulder baby?) into playing Olivia;) You do a pretty good no nonsense Elliott.

Given Garbie owns the gym and might have the information asked, and maybe in a position to share, posting on Chocky might yield better results than trying to track down the belayer in question. (I realize there are lots of 'might's' in my sentence, I have a hard time committing;)

r.e. the stickers; I have a whole stack of them if anyone else needs a few;)

Unfortunately there is! I met an old school pervert (I'd guess he was late 70's) not too long ago who was chucking a wobbly about the lack of hard core wee/poo porn available in the mainstream... He certainly wasn't impressed, nor was he winning any friends with the predominantly female audience at Coles...

Ah-hah! I have deduced the problem with the belayer; lack of opposable thumbs and no belay device!

If I were a plushie I'd ask for its number;)

Is it just me, or did Olivia go from smoking hot to frumpy scrunch-face in the space of about one season?
