Somewhat OT, but there's been a lot of discussion of Jeb's exploits here before.

That's surprising. So unusual to hear of an accident in this activity.

Quote from article "it could have been that he got too close to the mountain"

...yep I think that could be the issue...sad to hear but really no surprise either...hope he recovers ok.

Somewhat more surprising, much less sad, and even more OT, was the headline in the "Just In" column at the foot of the page : "Lesbian trucker tweets for Sweden".

So does "a female priest, an advertising executive and an organic sheep farmer"

Andy Warhol was right!

If this is the dude who was filmed almost wiping out a friend videoing him shooting through some trees on the video forum section (and when he's finally on the ground saying "wow i came a bit close" or similar) then, really? surprising? I think not.

Yes its him and I can't say I'm surprised either.

There is a video of the jump here.

He was also planning to jump out of a plane with his wing suit and no parachute and land on his belly down a specially constructed landing ramp. I guess thats been put back a bit.

Does this mean that he fulfilled his dream of landing without a parachute?

No , at least not yet...
(He landed using a chute, and in the U-vid link, you can see the people who attended him using it to shade him while awaiting the chopper, and in the meantime a photog films him underneath it.)

He is blerrie lucky to be alive after kissing the stone (with his knee?), at xkph!

Call me sick, heartless, whatever, but I'm a bit disappointed that the video didn't have the accident from the other jumper's helmet cam...

Is it just me or does the timing of this accident coincide with the pulling of base jumping insurance a little too much.

Personally think this is a conspiracy from the insurance companies to try and justify their decision to pull insurance on such a well regulated and safe sport. You have no idea the lengths these corporations will go to to protect the interests of their shareholders. I'm sure I saw a suit with a little pair of scissors clipping a wing just before he launched.

Yeah, pretty surprising that he clipped something and isn't dead, I hope he pulls through. I don't really understand whats going on with rockclimbers getting up on their tall ponies about all the risks other 'extreme folk' take. If you actually climb in between the web spraying, you also take unneccessary risks, so stop splitting hairs.

If you're wishing that this dude dies just so that your really easy and obvious predictions will come true, thereby proving you to be very clever.......then you are a total [Moderated], and should be ashamed!

I didn't know than insurance company's ever cover this sport? Overseas I guess.

A few pots here calling the kettle black. There are lawn bowlers out there saying the same things about rock climbers.

I wonder if he was able to pull his chute. It’s pretty freaky to survive a fall like that without one.

I read somewhere that he managed to pull his emergency chute or something?
