They would get a cut also strengthens their brand and people trust in them. If it a definate win fro them it won't ned up ciosting them a cent if they go to court as Newcorp would have to pay legal fees on a loss....doubt it would get that far..but no harm asking?

I'm pretty sure that they just do it out of the goodness of their heart - they're all hippy's in California, right?

Or it could be the fact that they want pro photog's to use flickr and feel that helping people protect their IP is a good way of doing this. I dunno.

If I were the head of News Corp I would ignore these gnat-like annoyances about copyright infringement and only pay attention if enough aggrieved people got together and forced the issue in a class-type action.

If you pay for one infringement you're gonna pay for them all so don't pay for any.

If anyone could force Yahoo! to run a case it would be very surprising considering the amount of copyright infringement that arguably exists on their many sites.

And let's not forget, if you're looking for a champion to protect individual rights I'd be looking for someone other than Yahoo!.

"Yahoo!, along with Google China, Microsoft, Cisco, AOL, Skype, Nortel and others, has cooperated with the Chinese government in implementing a system of internet censorship in mainland China."

invoice them. often accounts payable people are completely independent of the people using the service (in this case your photo) and if they don't want to pay it'll send a more powerful message than moaning on in a forum.
