Thought you all might be interested in this.

Abseiler was rapping off the area to the left at the main boardwalk where there are a bunch of vertical cracks. Gladiator and Power-Slave are the two routes there. The group had been there most of the day and was not climbing, simply abseiling. I did not see the accident but it was described that the guy rapped a little fast and caught his foot in one of the cracks, lowering his weight onto it.

He was holding up pretty well but after a couple of hours the adrenalin had worn off and he was looking a bit white in the face. Ambulance and SES turned up and took good care of him.

Had my camera on me, so filmed the rescue - https://youtu.be/KNSvNGFu0K0

Yeah, that frustrates me too.

The other weekend when they pulled that group of 3 hikers out of there, they were also described as climbers.

I would have said something on the SES thread, but the actual guy who hurt himself was on that thread and would have seemed... well, yeah. Hence me describing him as an abseiler.

The original access was across paddocks, I guess the farmer wouldn't allow an ambulance to drive to the top?

There was still a reasonably rugged walk from the end of the paddocks to the cliff. Not a big deal, unless you're carrying a loaded stretcher!

Robbie and I walked a climber with a badly sprained ankle out to the farm land a couple of months ago. Part of the old road is now a ploughed field field so you have to go a long way around, and the last bit is behind a normally locked gate. We drove in to collect the climber and were lucky to meet the farmer who rather grudgingly let us drive through. Still much better than walking all the way out on the new track.

Nice footage. Good to see the pros doing a great job too.
