Here is what I have heard and believe happened - a few weekends ago I heard there was an accident at Barden's which I haven't read about anywhere else - so just thought I'd record it here.
- Male belayer, female climber at Barden's Lookout at Mt York.
- Female fell backwards, hit her shoulder (apparently dislocating it) and bashed her head, bled profusely on a ledge. Unable to be safely lowered down.
- Belayer called for help.
- Several climbers came to their aid, one led a neighbouring climb (~14) and assisted her, tandem abseiled down where others performed first aid.
- Ambos were called, climber was helicoptered out to Westmead I believe... I may have misheard that bit.

In light of another recent thread I thought I'd separate the facts from the speculation.
A friend, who was there and was the one who climbed up & helped the girl lower down, gave me his opinion on what probably happened (he does not know the climber or belayer, this was the first time they met)
His opinion was that they were new to climbing, they seemed like boyfriend girlfriend - and it seemed the guy had climbed a few times, but it may have been her first time outdoors... and he was getting her to lead climb.
Earlier in the day, my friend was climb nearby and apparently overhead the boyfriend instruct her how to clean an anchor from the ground. He said it seemed dodgy, and she was obviously a bit stressed.

When the guy started calling for help it seemed obvious he had absolutely no idea what to do, and the other climbers essentially took over; locking off the belay, securing the rope, calling 000 etc.
The girl was very groggy "do I know you? Where's all this blood from?"
However, she didn't seem to have a major neck injury, so they lowered her down as the ledge was not a good place to be.
They later heard she was at hospital in a stable condition, about to have a scan - but don't know what happened after that.
She wasn't wearing a helmet.
