This is proper alpine hardman stuff. Self rescue, emergency surgery, nicely done sir.

Well spoken ODH, I doff my hat to Chris and Philly.
Slightly off topic, kind-of, but a reminder to all that if you plan to lower a weighted second off an auto-block, such as a sling and pulley to release it, remember to use a friction knot such as a munter on the brake side, auto-block mode devices are on/off, once you release it second goes flying. Something I was thinking about on a long drive and then per chanced across an accident report on same.

Here (at another climb location), is the heroine of the day...
3 cheers for Philly!

Maybe I'm just having a slow moment, but to sort my confusion, the sepsis was a result of surgery before the Angels incident?
If the surgery you refer to is cleaning up the sepsis, then what caused it initially? ... hopefully not ...

No, the surgery was afterwards.

bigchris, your Private Message boxes are full...
Sepsis sounds scary* indeed... especially if it can be induced by a popped pimple.
My soloing at Buffalo now has potential 'other' hazards to consider due garnering scrapes and scratches while mountain biking out bush, gardening, etc...
(* ... Check https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sepsis )!
