also no mention of post trip depression, social retardness due to a childhood obsessed with rocks (i know not acute) and the mental effects of injury to a climbing partner. Is central asian gut lurgi acute?

Good work with the survey and off topic your work with forestry is bloody impressive.

We have had close to 500 responses already, but it would be really good to get a couple of thousand. Please note, we also want climbers who have never had an injury to fill in the survey. Some people have interpreted the blurb as only those injured. The study isn't designed to assess rate of injury, but we don't want 100percent of respondents to have had acute injuries either ......

Done. All the best with the results, write up and publication. Would love a link to the full journal pubs once you get there.

Done. I hope you get the number of surveys needed to make it significant.
Good luck!

I'm going to do the survey, I have had a wrist injury that was basically an overuse injury but did require physio. I put down 'no' for acute injury though? Is that right? Sorry it was a little confusing as it was due to overuse but it was also an acute injury as I know when then actual injury occurred i.e. I twanged it in the gym. Anyway, yours in confusion.

Yes, as you can appreciate there are a few grey zones. But a twang in the gym that led to pain I would think was an acute injury. As would be a ruptured pulley that happened in a pocket with a twang, or a drop knee that suddenly you knew wasn't going well.

Great response so far- about 725 replies, but NSW is way ahead with over 300 responses. Victoria and Queensland with about 120 each.
I suspect I have managed to target facebook groups better in NSW, and people know us, so are more likely to respond.
Please feel free to share the link, and email it to friends. We also want to hear from people who may no longer climb because of their injuries. I have posted on the VCC site and with Vertical Life, and will contact sportsclimbing Vic.
A colleague is meant to be contacting all climbing gyms in Australia. If there is any other obvious place please let us know.

9 days to go in the survey.
If you haven't filled it out please consider doing so.

We have had 1444 responses with 239 from Vic, 100 from Tasmania (definitely the best rate for population), 99 from South Australia and 559 from NSW. Only 20 from NT and 55 from ACT.
Qld 195 and WA 167.

Can people please share the link with non social media savvy friends.

Are state accurate stats important?
You could move the question about state to the start of the survey and use question logic to exclude NSW...
Or try promoting the survey on a forum specific to Climbing in Victoria?

It just about total numbers mostly, I think Ness is just trying to point out the Victorian are slacking in numbers considering such a large climb pop in Victoria.
