Your scepticism is well founded. Wasn’t a climber though.

Funny all this discussion about BASE jumping etc, because…

Turns out it was a BASE jumper who hit the cliff (chute inflated) about 30 metres from the ground and slide down, suffering broken should blades or some such, and other injuries, but not too bad, as far as these things go, and was released from hospital two days later.

Remind me not to abseil using shroud lines as rope!

Seems the BASE types have their act together. They manage to warp any adverse publicity our way!
If I ever hurt myself climbing I'm gonna say I was BASE activity!!
