Man missing near Sublime Point, Blue Mtns

From SMH

Mystery surrounds the disappearance of a young Sydney man from a resort in the Blue Mountains, with the search becoming increasingly urgent ahead of possible snow showers forecast to hit the area this weekend.
Gary Tweddle, from Cremorne on Sydney's lower north shore, was attending a work conference at the Fairmont Resort in Leura this week when he vanished in the early hours of Tuesday morning after attending a function.
The 23-year-old appeared to be in good spirits when talking on his mobile phone to a friend shortly after midnight, the last time he was heard from. He told his friend that he had been separated from a group and was lost in bushland near a main road.
Mr Tweddle's phone now has been either switched off or is out of battery.

Police and officers from the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service have been scouring dense scrub near the resort since Tuesday, but the search has become increasingly urgent as the weather is expected to close in this weekend.
The weather so far this week has been unusually mild, but the Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting possible snow showers in the area on Sunday, when the temperature is expected to dip to a low of just one degree.
A search crew of 75 officers and volunteers searched the area on Thursday, and will continue their efforts on Friday.
Mr Tweddle grew up in the UK before moving to the Gold Coast as a teenager, and then to Sydney several years ago.
His girlfriend, Anika Haigh, has been keeping vigil at the police command post set up at the golf clubhouse at Fairmont Resort.
She told the ABC that everyone was praying for Mr Tweddle's safe return.
"We are absolutely desperate to bring him home to his very loved family and friends," she said.
The search party has been concentrating its efforts on bushland along Sublime Point Road at Leura, with dangerous gullies and cliffs nearby.
Mr Tweddle's family and friends have launched an online appeal for anyone who saw him in the area to come forward.
"Keep up the prayers that our little Gary is just having a bit of an adventure and is safe and well," Mr Tweddle's sister, Amy, wrote on Facebook.
His brother, Craig, wrote: "stay safe don't panic, USE YOUR SKILLS!!"
Police have appealed for anyone who thinks they saw Mr Tweddle in the early hours of Tuesday morning to contact triple-0 so that the search area can been narrowed down.
Mr Tweddle is between 165-170 centimetres tall, with a medium build, brown eyes and short brown hair.
At the time of his disappearance he was wearing blue jeans, a black jacket and checked shirt.

So is the bloke at Thredbo.
They might have taken each other hostage and posted out ransom notes.

Why would you post something like that? What is it that you find amusing about people likely to be dead or dying in the bush?

Relax geeky. If you choose to be morbid that's ok, but I chose an attempt at black humour on an otherwise depressing thread.

You didn't like that one?
Here's another.
It is obvious they were not new age sport climbers out bolting new routes, or retroing old ones, otherwise not hearing from them would be a deliberate ploy on their part.

That's alright then, DD, sorry, I didn't realise you are simply trying to cheer us all up. Why not email the family a few jokes as well? They are sounding all depressed.

Sorry Duang that the thread didnt meet your exacting standards of jocularity. Obviously we wrecked the internet a little bit by adding something that was not funny or about cats. Seriously dude, this shit is not here for your amusement.

Might have found him - near Sweet Dreams apparently.

I find it very hard to believe he could end up near the top of Sweet Dreams and be 'lost'. It's a very narrow bit of land with suburban houses, fences, street lights, a bitumen road and massive cliffs.

If you want to go missing, or are done in, then you are more than half likely to succeed in being in a hard to find location?

The news article about the body states "Security footage showed him running out of the main foyer without his jacket or glasses just after midnight." so getting lost without glasses, in a possibly intoxicated state, isn't that hard to believe.

Hmm the main 'slot' around there would be the top of Electra wouldn't it?

I've had big nights out before, Wally harpooned a whale, CJ's been assulted with a hammer, St Kilda set a midget on fire.

But this guy takes the trophy for "BIGGEST BENDER". Impromptu BASE jumping is not something anyone should consider after 20 drinks.

They must have been so happy that they got to use their "Arachno-pod".

Plus no great rush setting up the useless peice of crap.

If they were doing a raise, it probably did help. It makes the edge transition much easier.

A) He was actually being chased out? Then thrown over...
B) He broke up with his girlfriend and she didn't say anything to the cops(media)...
C) Seriously couldn't handle his drink...

D) Other mind-altering substances at play

I think the poor guy took something that disagreed with him.
