Aid rant:

http://www.splitterchoss.com/blog/2007/10/17/the-aid-climbing-rant

But I guess a similar argument can be made for soloing... it's not more dangerous, cos no one dies actually soloing. You only do it when you know you're able? Same for A5... but hell, what do I know, the only thing I ever aided was Ozy and me and my partner both agreed after - "Never again - too much like hard work"

Dai Koyamada's recent exploits in Frankenjura. 123MB!!! Not the best filming but you see the man destroy a number of hard problems in the forest.

Neil, I made that film. Reid Jameson is another of my pseudonyms.

The point of the film was to show friends and family what the day was like.

The story was: got up a 5am in Richmond, the plan being to compelte the route before sundown. Several delays later and we completed the walkin at about 11ish - so based on our expected speed, it was sort of doomed before even leaving the ground.

I lead up the first pitch (in the shade) then my mate Pete cleaned. He left 3 cams and a nut in the pitch as he could not clean them, so after lunch we rapped off, I re-lead the first pitch to below the slot, cleaned out what I could then downclimbed.

The flake warped in the sun and crunched my cams bad. I was only able to retrieve one of them. I mean I placed them with the lobes about half closed, but when I got back to them I could see the stone squeezing the head. Poor things.

Expensive trip! but a hell of a lot of fun. We'll return and do it pre Christmas, but I'll camp locally so we can get a proper early start.

How embarassing!

I keep getting 'error on page' when I try to view the link.
Is there a back door to the clip?

Sorry, no back door clips however the following might tickle your fancy...

Warning - somewhat "X-rated" - for a climbing vid - and if you're viewing this at work you might want to be careful and turn down the volume...

I like the line "we are climber who f--- and not f---ers who climb".

Classic.

That's clucking hilarious.

I also like the end comment. "It's hardcore, f---ing hardcore!"

Tyndall Mania!!
it's summer so why not!!!!
i have linked 3 videos of me and gary climbing at the tyndalls, which is on the west coast of tassie. the route we attemped was Deeper Waters, still unreapeted. it's 310 meters long and has some pritty hard pitches, with the first being the real deal and full value 48 meters of conglonerate slabby pebble pulling (it's hard)!. first graded 26 but after having tried it a few times and still haven't red pointed it i think it's more 27/8. it's 9 pitches and was first but up by Adam Donoghue and Garath Lewelian.
we did not free every pitch, but we decided on going for a ground up style rather than rapping the route. and sussing out the top pitches. so we will be back!!!
the first one day free ascent is still up for grabs!!!

see you out there

Probably more to do with the fact he skipped the last clip (one of only three clipped once established on the steep section) on a very short route...

Collection of various bits of Action Directe footage available online.
