Who's the climber in the Mickey's Bach clip? I must try that flag manouver mid crux the next time I climb. It must be the thing I am missing!

I thought it was Mikl on first blush, but apparently it's some Bay Area fixture called Dan Somethingorother...

It only works on climbs that are within 10 years of falling into the ocean!

The climber is Spider Dan Goodwin who became well known for soloing buildings in the states.

So there is no actual climing in this - maybe wait till you can watch all 4 in a row - but it looks like it could be good.

"Some call it white courage... I call it chalk"

That clip from the eighties is a classic, although as weird as it may be it is clear that Dan Goodwin was no slouch on rock.

Amazing that the whole right side of the crack is now on the ground. Bizarre to look under the remains and still see the line of hangers that was the bolted right arete!

Alex Honnold soloing Moonlight Buttress. Absolutely insane!

Unfortunately I could only find it in German, but really, the pictures need no words.

I agree. That effort along with him soloing the North-West Face of Half Dome (there is footage of that on Youtube too) are such mind boggling achievements that they defy words. When you consider the history behind these routes and how significant they were when they were established (with aid) and how significant they were when free climbed and how even today's free ascents are still noteworthy, then free-soloing them is beyond comprehension. I would love to know what Peter Croft (soloist extraordinaire and involved with FFA of Moonlight Buttress) thought of Alex's efforts.

The ability of Alex to just hold his shit together for that long is way out there. I was having little panics attacks for him and just letting go. Man that was intense.
