If you look closely he is just holding onto the rope with his hands - no fancy attachments.

Phark. What happens if the force of the swing means he can't hold on and comes off at the bottom of the
arc? Still got time to get the shoot open? You'd wanna hope so.

wouldn't he have tried holding on with his hands previously, but with a couple of metres of rope attached from his harness to the end of the swinging rope?

That's what I love about this stunt. It's not just reckless crazyness (Jesse??) but really well rehearsed and planned. Lots of skills combined for one killer swing/jump.

I was half-expecting you to say "I wish we had thought of that" :)

Good to hear it was as safe as possible

I'm still waiting to see the mousey Bungonia rope jump...
The final published result/s should be excellent.

Definitely not, if he came off through the first part of the swing he'd have no chance at all.

>wouldn't he have tried holding on with his hands previously, but with a couple of metres of rope attached from his harness to the end of the swinging rope?

Yes, in fact others were trying it that way and were unable to hold on.

As for you M9, after several more reccy's & a lot of funny looking drawings I decided it was much safer (and MUCH easier) to just BASE jump there, but I'm not up to that for a good while yet.

But then you'd smash into the rock face on when you swing back...

This clip of various stunts by Lucky (Toby) has a lot of pretty out-there moments. Amazing skill and athleticism...

However when I think of guys like Shane McConkey (awesome skier and ski base jumper) who bit the dust last year, you realise how small the margin for error is in some of these stunts...

If I see another high five and hear the words "what a rush...." i'm going to... be rather cranky.

That's a pretty good pic. There is no bullshit posing with a photo like that.
