I'm generally agnostic about clubs but the VCC guys are more persistant than mormons. If I were birdh I'd be more put off joining after all the hypocritical drivel posted above (mostly by self professed non vcc members!).

Then you get stories like the one about the member who was SO distraught about the routes being reset at burnley without VCC approval that he was "going to give up climbing".

I rest my case.

Well there are plenty of us on this forum that are still VCC members. I appreciate being a member of a body that represents the interests of climbers at a broader level and who deal with a lot of shit (ie.cliff access) that I take for granted.

As for bumblies looking for climbing partners... well beggars can't be choosers. That is unless you are offering your services Stugang to teach bridh the ropes.

I could have mentioned other appropriate places for Bridh to find climbing partners
http://www.climbco.com.au
http://users.netconnect.com.au/~climbacg/
http://www.grampiansadventure.com.au/

The thing that gets me is that he is a beginner who pretty much needs someone to baby him along until he's more capable and seems to think it's OK to trawl for the perfect person to do that for him for free whilst not offering any coherent reasoning behind refusing the available offers from VCC members. He could get very cheap and capable support from a club or he could fork out a substantial amount for professional help or he can beg and plead for someone else to help him on the net. As a professional, it shîts me that people think its ok to ask for what is effectively free guiding, although I would have ignored it if he hadn't been so naff about offers of help from well meaning people who happen to belong to the VCC.

Are you telling us that you don't know if they exist?

Just a thought Bridh, there's been two or three offers in this forum so far but if they don't tickle your fancy then perhaps some bouldering at Lactic or Bayside might be more your thing. I can't remember if anyone mentioned it previously but it might be worth checking out. You don't need a partner, VCC members won't be an issue and it'll make you STRONNNGG... like Eric Bana on a bad day

If all you want is to be STRONNNGG like Eric Bana on a bad day, then try PowerThrist

Ha! Who is this "they" you refer to?

Besides, threads are not like children. You cannot keep them locked in your basement,
pristine and uncorrupted. You have to let them live lives of their own.

Have you got a partner yet?

Yeah bridh, its a big VCC conspiracy to corrupt your threads. Please, the kids are just having fun with you. Remember, they can smell fear.

Point of order Wendy, I resent the use of the word professional to describe people with occupations other than; Lawyer, Banker, Doctor, Stripper and Hooker

Everyone else just has a job!

Chuck Norris doesn't belong to a club he is the club.

What about when Chuck Norris goes mountaineering...

Chuck Norris doesn't get frostbite, he bites frost.

Careful... Chuck can get angry about this stuff: http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN2129580420071222

(and similar to a wolf shirt curing AIDS, Chuck's tears cure cancer... I wonder what Chuck could do in a wolf shirt?)
