Once again, why respect? If, for example I worshiped a teapot that orbited around Uranus and choose to do a dance around a flowerpot every three days in order to communicate with my God....I even wrote up a dodgy manuscript of how to live my life, which involved killing those that didn't believe what I did, despite me having no proof for what I thought were true. I can sit here all day and come up with absurd things that only people who believe in religion would believe.....and you respect that? Why?

I am not arguing. I have the right and the reason to belittle all views.

I think ya missed the point Steph but when it comes to religion, most people do.

Apparently it not okay to have a go at any "mainstream" religion, but the same people have no problems laughing at some African tribeman who finds a coke bottle in the sahara is a sign from god. At least hes got a bit of tangable proof to back up his beliefs.

Religion like everything else in this world is fair game, if you believe it it enough...who gives a shite what others think???? It definately shouldnt be put up on a "don't touch "pedestal.

To right rod....

Just to be fair, I welcome all people who are religious to have a go at atheism...just try...

I don't think its ok to have a go at anyone's religion. I may think that someone who worships a teapot is off their rocker but there's a difference between what one thinks and what one posts on a public climbing forum. Dalai is right, this isn't the place for it.

I think religion is the great evil and "having a go at it" is the responsability of anyone with half a brain.

Those of us with more than half a brain think otherwise...

Recent studies have found that the higher a persons IQ is, the more likely they are going to be aethiest.....this dosnt mean that all people who follow religion are dumb....but more like once you actually think about the science of religion (once you take away anyway religous dogma instilled in us from birth)...it kinda just dosn't make sense.

But Dalai is right, you ain't going to change anyones opinion, believe what ya want to believe....but if you voice an opinion expect someone to disagree with ya....and cop it on the chin.

In another (totally unfounded made up study this time) people who advocate the non use of chalk are more likely to be religious than those who do use chalk.....make of that what you will. Also it has been proven (or made up) that all those long bearded trad nazi heathens will all burn in hell, (even though its dosn't exist)...hell for them being an indoor bouldering gym with ring bolts.

I think we need Joe to recover his thread. Hopefully before the beheading wombat cult tries to move in and fire up the chimneys.

I do however agree with stugang stugang stugangs assesment of the thread.
