Nah! That was a Geoff Weigand route! Clue: Elie Cheveax later sent it 2nd shot before it was fashionable to be climbing .14a anywhere near that quick...

hmm - Scarface is 13d
White Wedding was another Wiegand route wasn't it? (or did he just repeat it?)

'I Am A Bad Man' (5.14a), cleaned and bolted by Watts - 'stolen' by J.B... White Wedding was a Patrick Edlinger route (probably named after his tights!)

Obviously not a three star classic. I've never heard of it!

Curses! I forgot about 'I am a bad man'...
I also thought White Wedding was a Weigand route, or did he just flash it?

To loosly quote Steve Martin the comedian...
" if men had breasts they'd never leave the house, they'd just stay home and play with them all day."
so to add the the caution, dont put your sport bra on until ya get to the crag...otherwise you might miss the whole event.

He sure as hell didn't flash it! I think it was a 3 day redpoint. Perhaps we need another topic concerning 'Smith Rock Trivia' - or just '80s Trivia' - to co-incide with the upcoming Spandex Day...

Apparently there is a report in Rock Issue 11 01 Jul 1989 about "Geoff Weigand's first ascent of White Wedding", Im sure someone has it lying around somewhere to check.

My mistake - it was Jibe Tribout - FA: 1988. Right nationality, wrong name, different coloured tights...

On the subject of 80s and 90s French Rock Stars - i bumped into Patrick Edlinger whilst at Verdon. He
now runs a climbing Gite (guest house) in the town. It was very cool to meet one of my idols when i was
an impressionable teenager. He is certainly not young anymore!

But can he still climb harder than you?

yes. of course!
Tribout is still ticking grade 32s and he is in his mid 40s.

Another case of being blinded by the tights

- I wonder if anyone has repeated his feat of soloing Pillar des Fourmis at Buoux since he did it back in the early '80s. Pretty outrageous terrain.
