I'm from Taiwan and plan to cycling from Perth to Melbourne starting from Mar, 2018, also want to climb on the way, like Mt.Arapiles, Grampians, Albany and Flinder ranges.
I probably not bring all my gears with my bike, i only bring my basic gears and part of trad gears, but no rope,is it too difficult to find the climbing partners to climb with? Or does anything is recommend to bring with?
Thanks.

I would bring a plane ticket to Melbourne and ride to Arapiles from there!

It's only a 288km (2 x 144) detour from the Perth-to-Melbourne road to check whether anyone's climbing at Moonarie (the best cliff in the Flinders Ranges). The bad news is there's often no-one around.

You will find climbers at Arapiles but probably not anywhere else.

To ride from Perth to Melbourne would be terribly boring unless you have companions. It is flat and featureless. It is 10 times further than Kaohsiung City to Taipei.

Even riding from Melbourne to Arapiles would be dull.
Even driving from Melbourne to Arapiles would be dull.

If you bring a bouldering mat you won't have to worry about finding climbing partners. It could double as a sail although only useful with a tailwind.

Just kidding mate. Seriously though. I would be impressed if you lug a rack across the country. Include Sydney in your itinerary and I'll be happy to give you a belay and supplement whatever gear you need

Dude if you are serious about a cycling and climbing holiday taking in many varied crags I would recommend an east coast jaunt and not the nullabour. If you flew to Adelaide I'm sure some friendly local folk would show you moonarie and take you in their car and let you leave bike gear at their house. After climbing there leave on your bike from Adelaide along great ocean road via Robe with a detour at Hamilton up toward Horsham to climb at arapiles and Grampians. Once you're climbed out there head back to the great ocean road making sure you pass through the Grampians via a different way than you did from Hamilton. Then to Melbourne via great ocean road. If you really want to cycle more after that head up the coast to Sydney climbing at any number of places on the way. If you've still got time and legs then after Sydney keep going north up the coast.

If you're a nice guy and post updates of your adventures here I doubt you'll ever be wanting for partners and won't need any gear other than basic boots harness chalk bag and belay gear. Once they see your bike and how skinny, sunburnt and exhausted you are they're certainly take pity on you.

But if you are really determined to do the nullabour then forget climbing on the way. Just do the ride and pack in the east coast crags as described above in a car or on your bike depending on how much time and how masochistic you are.

This is the nicest and most useful things Stugang has ever said. Have fun, not pain and boredom.

Lots of people will climb with you in the east, I'll even bolt you a (small) new route if you're keen

March is still awfully hot along the nullarbor too, though some people like that challenge. If you must, I'd suggest posting your climbing gear forward after albany or thereabouts as there's bugger all climbing for the next 2000km! And then you will get to grampians and it will be wet and rainy (assuming you'll get there in the middle of winter, depends how long you spend where)

stugang's suggestion is a good one. If you start in the south, you will get to queensland as it approaches winter too, and you get to enjoy a lot more climbing (both because more climbing spots, and more people to climb with)

I'd suggest starting in tassie, feb/march is the best time to be there and it would be amazing to check out by bike
