Hey all, I'll be spending July in Santiago and was wondering if anyone knew if there was much climbing that goes on in the winter months and if anyone might have some contacts.

Have a look at http://www.escalando.cl/lugares-y-rutas/ and their Facebook page.
There is some good ice climbing and winter alpinism up in the canyons near the border, Maipo etc. Though it's not really day tripping.

I'm going in September/October as well and would be keen for any info/contacts.

From what I've been reading, Valle de los Condores looks like the best spot near Santiago. There's a free pdf topo updated this year available on the net if you can track it down. Also looks like there might be heaps of potential for new routes on the basalt column sector, which seems to only have four climbs despite what looks like dozens of perfect cracks :/ .
